Socialism = Big Momma

Socialism is a very Female oriented philosophy of governing... It's like a domineering mother gone wild... Everything provided for you... All coming from one central source... Gubmint = Big Mamma...

No wonder it has such a great appeal to the Generation X'ers (my generation and younger), many of whom were raised by women - with no men in the household due to divorce and an absurdly female-biased court system when it comes to child custody laws.

It's important to understand one's enemy... And Big Guv = Big Mamma explains a helluva lot when I look at my peers and try to understand how they could possibly yearn for yet more government in their lives... They just miss Mamma.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest explained...

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is about the perils of conformity (aka Political Correctness) in a Socialist system...

Nurse Ratched, of course, is the oppressive, unsmiling, uncaring Socialist regime. Her only insistence is conformity to the rules of the "society" - where all live in an equal hell. Most of the inmates live in the asylum, by choice, because they've become too weak from reliance on the "government" (Ratched) to live free anymore...

McMurphy is a young, carefree, rebellious America (Don't Tread on Me). The Socialist system makes him ~sick~ and he looks at the inmates as sheep led to the slaughter - especially when he discovers they're there voluntarily!

He tries to help them, but for the most part, they're too far gone...

McMurphy must be neutralized by the Socialists, and they do whatever is necessary to assure his compliance. In his case - the only way is through a lobotomy. The State steals his soul...

When the enormously powerful and beautiful Indian breaks free and runs over the hillside, I always shed a tear or two - I do now just thinking about it. He is the Native American - the Real American who will always break free in the end.

It's also a scathing critique on the role of Female as Oppressor. The obvious case being Nurse Rached... but we also have the poor bastard Billy - whose domineering mother rendered him completely impotent and forever a child.

But Socialism and the role of Female as Oppressor are closely tied. It isn't called "The Nanny State" for nothin'.

The Socialist Utopia is a domineering mother's wet dream. Everything taken care of for you... as Pink says...

Momma's gonna put all of her fears into you
Momma's gonna keep you right here under her wing
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing
Momma's will keep Baby cozy and warm

Momma's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you
Momma won't let anyone dirty get through
Momma's gonna wait up until you get in
Momma will always find out where you've been
Momma's gonna keep Baby healthy and clean.
